Primordialis
A downloadable game for Windows
Primordialis is a physics-based roguelike fish builder. Unleash your creativity to defeat creatures using venomous tentacles, electrical shocks, or exploding children. The possibilities are endless. Explore the primordial depths to reveal its secrets and discover what lies beyond.
========================== Create =========================

The core of Primordialis is its simple yet deep creature creation system. Your body is constructed out of cells which each have unique properties and functions. With over 60 cell types to place and combine, there are countless creative combinations you can use to engineer your perfect fish.
You are given the freedom to play how you want, whether you want to be a massive serpent that swallows other creatures whole or to tinker with complex mechanisms and circuitry. Your only limit is your imagination.
========================== Survive ========================

In the main rogue-like mode, you embark on a difficult journey of growth and evolution. Explore the world and learn to deal with a diverse ecosystem of hand-crafted enemies, all built using the same creature creation system as you. Discover cell types, mutations and more to help you survive in this harsh and brutal world. Traverse the 5 main biomes and discover what lies at the end.
You can also play in sandbox mode if you want to perfect your creature design plans before a run, study the biology of your enemies, or just enjoy some relaxed creature building.

I tried demo on steam, and it's melting my cpu, running at 100% no matter what i select in settings :(
is there a demo?
On steam there is
I can't get steam
Love the game, but PLEASE add co-op with friends on steam.
I think this would be so much fun playing against other people and would probably double in popularity too
i recently made a co-op mod, which works with steam remote play.
you can get it from the primordialis discord server.
unfortunately it is still pretty limited, but its certainly better than nothing, and its the best weve got until multiplayer support is officially added
Question for the dev: I'd love to play and get into this game, but I use macOS. I understand the costs and annoyingness of porting to macOS, but thankfully stuff like wine exists. What language(s), frameworks, and graphics libraries (Vulkan, OpenGL, DirectX) does Primordialis use? Knowing that would help me to get it running on my machine.
Primordialis is made from scratch in C++, with some Lua for scripting. The graphics use OpenGL 3.3. I am planning to eventually do a native linux port, but I'm not sure about macOS.
I know some other people have been unsuccessful getting the windows version to run on macOS, so I'm not sure if it's possible at the moment.
As a Linux user I'm glad to hear that, the game is quite entertaining, in some ways it seems like Spore
WHY DOESN'T IT WORK
Can you provide more detail on what is not working? If you get a log.txt after trying to run the game please share the contents of that as well.
the steam key is not working and the game files didnt appear on my computer
I don't know what the issue is but here are some guesses and possible solutions:
If the download is completing but the files are not appearing on your computer one possibility is that you have an antivirus that found a false positive and is removing it. If that's the case your antivirus will probably have a log of which files it has removed, and might let you manually allow the game. Even if you never installed a specific antivirus you probably still have the default Windows Defender.
Otherwise it might be an issue with your browser, you can try downloading it with a different browser, or you could try downloading it through the itch.io app https://itch.io/app, which also lets you get automatic game updates.
If you still can't get it to work I can issue a refund if you email me at kylernat@gmail.com from the same email as your itch account.
a question for the developer. i discovered this game on steam, and with 119 hr i wonder how much more i will play, just out of curiousity.
my question is , if we buy it on H.io , will it be possible to put the license on steam after its out there? or get a key to continue playing on steam, reason is cause i want to put more time on it and it would be nice to see it progress .
im going to buy it either way, just wanted to buy it here since the dev in question gets a bit more profit.
thank you in advance for reading and maybe answering
Sorry for the late reply. Yes, you can get a steam key as well if you buy it here.
this is the result of when you take Spore's cell stage and Noita and combine them both. a work of art.
in other words, a very good game
i agree i love this game man. waiting for steam release so i can get it there though
this honestly feels so much cooler than either. i liked noita's code-esque wand system but at some point it feels extremely... exploitable? once you understand what you need to do to make REALLY crazy stuff, it becomes gratuitous
i really loved specifically the cell stage of spore (my main complaint was how short it was) so i have absolutely loved seeing so many cell-stage type games, and this definitely takes the cake so far. it keeps the relative simplicity of "you are a cell" (or a fish i guess, since you're made of cells) but takes the customization aspect to a whole new level. i NEVER imagined designing my own organs in spore, but in this game i've already been forced to work with what i had and create some of the WEIRDEST organs ever. how about detaching arms that scorch things into ash? a giant spike diamond? maybe impact grenades?
and i've only scratched the surface. ggwp game dev, you've made GOTY material :>
